I am excited to apply for the position of Retail Sales Associate at Staples. Your company has made life much easier for me as a student for years, and I have always looked to Staples as a trustworthy place for all the materials I need. I’ve
been intrigued by the idea of working for this company and helping provide
others the same necessities.

Throughout my experiences both volunteering at Brookdale Hospital and
working in ministry at Beraca Baptist Church, I found plenty of opportunities to
serve any needs of others that came to my attention. At Brookdale Hospital, I often helped a large variety of ways throughout each day working in the
Recreational Therapy Department at the hospital’s nursing home. I would go from helping push wheelchairs for residents who wanted help getting to
certain areas to helping out with events planned by the staff for the residents. Working in ministry at Beraca Baptist Church also helped me with working alongside others at a team, seeing where the ministry workers around me needed help and finding ways to support those needs.

These experiences helped teach me how to look out for anyone who may be
in need of assistance and how to work as part of a team, as well as
communicating with those who need my help. Through these strengths that I have continued to develop over time, I would prove to be of great assistance to your company, helping benefit those working alongside me as a team player in addition to being someone any customer can count on.

Resume and Cover Letter Self-Assessment

In the resume and cover letter, I was able to work on collecting different information to articulate an overall point that I would be a good candidate for a job at Staples. One way that I put this together was by highlighting strengths and parts of my character that would make me a proper fit for the job. For example, I focused on the fact that I am a hard-working college student that is skilled at working as a part of a group of individuals. To further articulate this point, I included my experiences working as a part of a larger team in ministry at a church and in working as a volunteer at a hospital. By formulating the points I wanted to make and also supporting these claims using experiences listed on my essay, I further developed my skills in using different factors to support and formulate an argument in my writing.
